To stop using traditional oven cleaners, more than toxic products (they contain petroleum derivatives, potassium hydroxide and methylene chloride, among others) and avoid skin, eye or respiratory problems, opt for a more alternative natural.

Clean the oven

Wood ash detergent or bleach is very easy to make and you can take advantage of the residue left in the fireplace or stove. It is necessary to know that only wood or paper ash works.

The harder the wood has been, the better quality the bleach will be. Don’t forget to wear gloves and if you have very sensitive skin, goggles. Avoid skin contact when preparing detergent.

      Chimney waste

      • Sift the ash to separate the pieces of charcoal.
      • When it is well white and calcined, you will get a better detergent.
      • Then place it in a container with hot water, with a ratio of 5 parts of water to 1 of ashes.
      • Leave covered with a cloth for 1 or 2 days, stir once in a while.
      • Decanta filtering with a cloth or with pantyhose.

You will have obtained a slippery liquid to the touch, which is why it has great power as a detergent. If you put a potato or an egg and it floats, it means that it is ready. If it sinks, you should add more ash.

P ou can use as liquid detergent and in any case have diluted in water for use. Store in tightly closed bottles.

This ash bleach is used to wash clothes and any utensil that needs to be sanitized such as cloths or strainers, for example. Many use it to disinfect vegetables, roots, legumes or also to disinfect the kitchen or bathroom countertops.
