Cheese Bread: A Brazilian Recipe

Cheese bread is made with a special flour called starch, cassava starch or “yuca”. In Brazilian it is known as polvinho doce  (sweet powder).   • 500 grams of cassava, cassava or starch starch.

  4. Knead the mixture with your hands until you get a smooth and homogeneous dough.
  5. Form small balls, which will be the future cheese bread buns, more or less all the same size and place them on a tray with aluminum foil or baking. If you don’t have one, just greasing it with a little butter is enough.
  6. Turn on the oven and set the plate to cook for 20 minutes.

This second recipe for cheese bread does not vary much in preparation from the previous Brazilian recipe. In this case, we will add a little Manchego cheese to the preparation.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup of milk.
  • 1 cup of cornstarch.
  • 1 and ½ cup of cassava flour.
  • ½ cup of butter.
  • 1 egg.
  • ½ cup of water.
  • 2 cups of Manchego cheese (it can be mozzarella).
  • ½ cup of Parmesan cheese.
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder.

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 ° C.
  2. In a bowl, mix the cornstarch, cassava flour and baking powder.
  3. In a saucepan, heat the milk with the water and butter, so that the latter melts.
  4. Pour the liquid over the dry ingredients and mix well.
  5. Add the salt, cheeses, and egg.
  6. With your hands, work the preparation until you get a dough.
  7. Form balls of the same size and arrange them on a tray greased with vegetable spray or butter.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes or until they begin to brown, remove and let cool for a few minutes.

  • 500 grams of cassava starch.
  • 3 eggs.
  • 350 grams of grated Parmesan cheese.
  • 1 pinch of salt.

How do we prepare it?

  1. Boil the milk with the salt and oil.
  2. In a bowl, add the cassava flour and pour out the hot liquid.
  3. Mix well with a spoon until you get a homogeneous dough.
  4. Add the grated cheese and eggs. In this step when you can add the herbs or spices that you like the most.
  5. Knead with your hands and form balls that you will distribute on a baking tray greased with butter or oil.
  6. Cooking for 25 minutes at 180 ° C .
